Congratulations! Wish I could have been there.  A vacation to Sun River would have been great, and floating the Deschutes from Big River to Sun River would be good fishing.  Also Crane Prairy for big trout, and Wikiup for Kokinee (sic). Man, you got some good 4-wheeling country there!  Jim

Good luck.  Used to work in Bend 20 yrs ago.   Beautiful country.  Jim

I was having vapor locking problems some time back, and I ran the gas line from the tank to the fuel pump in that serrated wiring loom that is split down the middle.  Stopped it all.

Hey Gents,
This is the first time I've been logged on in a while. I may be a bit out of sync here, but as far a quality tranny parts I have to suggest Novak Conversions in Logan, Utah. When Carl (Carl's Jeep) had his tranny apart I suggested Novak's and I think he had a good outcome with their locally manufactured quality parts.
Like Ryan, I had a "before-I-Knew -better" overhaul and then did it again with NOS parts. Both were before Carl went into his tranny.
Novak's does all kinds of Jeep mods and conversions and manufactures their own parts. Google them. I think you'll like what you find.

I learned from Calvin after his 2nd rebuild, and went straight to Novak for all of my T/TC internal parts.  No trouble with any of them, and no leaks.

Where I live in AZ, I  lose more to evaporation, than driving.  Need to get out more!

NO, not without alterations.  Tried a CJ5 on a 3A. To much work, for the outcome, and passed the deal.

You can also use a baggy, and cut a corner out of it to fill with. Squeezes like a cake decorator. I also have used the ketchup or mustard plastic bottles, and cut the nozzle off so it is larger. I mix my own pudding using 1/3 - 85/140 Gear oil, 1/3 - Moreys additive and 1/3 - Moreys Chasis grease. I put it all in a 2 lb. coffee can and "warm" it on my bbq, untill it melts together. Then I let it cool and if need be, I reheat and add to thin or thcken to what you think is right. My upper bearing stays lubed, and there are no leaks. I've had a qt. bottle on the shelf for about two years, and nothing has seperated, its' just as it was when I mixed it.

Back when the jeeps were new, the farmers sprayed the whole underneith with used motor oil, then drove on a dusty road a ways.  Did that a time or to, and most everything was rustproofed!

Gunslinger--That makes us feel better!  I hate to be the only one that gets to spend an extra $600 I had not planned on!

I was one that had to have the engine redone again, after 5 miles, because of an undersized neoprene seal and  oversized crank journal (within willys spec's).  I replaced with rope, and would NEVER use neoprene rear seal again.  Mine was a Fel-Pro set, who you buy the set from is of no matter.

I also welded the .070 opening closed, but I redrilled it to .040.  With the oil pump I have, the engine holds 40 psi at idle, and goes to 50  psi at 3000 rpm.   JamesR

I made it to 65 once with mine.
Is that a backup light switch mounted on black bracket mounted to tower bolts?

I used the front end loader on the tractor, but stillmanaged to bend my steering shaft a bit.  Fortunately the local machine shop straightened it on their big lathe.  I would remove the steering column for the next one. Much safer and least expensive if something slips or falls. Tub can be handled by 4 guys though. Jamesr

Did you remove the grease seal plugs when you greased the wheel bearings?  If not, there is no place for the excess grease to go but through the seal and into the brake drums area. 1/4 inch plug on top of axil, behind brake baking plate.

Mine too is wired open.  I think they are suppose to be wired open! JamesR
