 The original period correct license plates ended up matching the wheels.

Awesome, Tim.  Can't wait to see it in real life.  Wally and Clementine (and Rachel) too!

Tim would you say that your tunnel transistion piece to the hat channel is butt welded?

I got mine from Classic Enterprises and can't decide if it is supposed to butt together or go over the hat channel...

At the moment it does not sit right trying to overlap it. But I hesitate to trim it back without asking

Hi Kirk,

I'm not familiar enough with the Walck's set.

I purchased my channels from Midwest Military. I like them because the hump portion of the channel is part of the long rear channel. This set is designed to overlap in the center. They fit together nicely so there was no guessing. I welded the overlap seam completely. I purchased these for both 3As.

I know this doesn't help you at this point. This may be a good question to post on the Tech page. I'm sure others here have purchased the Walck's set.

By the way, your tub looks great.

Really don't think you want to butt weld that since is it a structural element... that weld would end up cracking with the flexing... really needs to be the overlap like Tim mentioned.  I had the Walcks set of hat channels and the hump but ended up leaving the original in place and just cut and blended the new rails over the top of the existing... welded it up.

Sorry Kirk,
You got them from Classic Enterprises, not Walck's.

I may be wrong, but I think the CE and Walck's are similar...where the hump portion is a separate piece.

I agree with Roger. It may not fit quite as nice as a trim down and butt weld, but I would probably be inclined to leave the overlap.

I tend to get a bit OCD about stuff like this, but quite honestly, once the tub is re-installed on the running chassis, you won't see it...unless you get under there to wipe down the underside. I'm guilty of this. ::) ;D

Thank you Trijjicon.  I appreciate your comments.  In the chassis video, I was was actually going faster in earlier versions, but my wife couldn't seem to keep up with me while filming.  I had to slow down to help her keep the Willys in frame. ;D

Yea Tom, I am wondering about this myself now that you mentioned it! Something just doesn't add up - even the spark plug wires are in perfect alignment - hmmmmmm! ;D

But then again, we know Tim and he DOES good work! ;
