what type of stone do you use when you rehone a go devil
« on: October 20, 2023, 02:26:49 PM »
my go devil is in need of a refresh, after watching some videos. i've learned that old engines use cast iron rings, and the hone should have course stones in it.  as i learned fast the rings, and the stones must match.....

i called k.w. and asked if there rings were cast iron. he had no clue, and he had a shop do the work for his engine.

so were did you get your rings? and what type of stone did you use ? fine, med. or course ?

 thanks for any info

So your going to rehone your cylinders and put in new rings without boring the cylinders? have you measured for taper and run out?

i haven't acquired the tools to measure the bore yet.. the bores are very glazed. ( like glass )  after i find out my specs. if all is right, i plan to hone / cross hatch the bore. then measure for piston fitment and get rings......  if it needs a machine shop, it will sit for a long time before it gets the love it needs :(
