I noticed how close those screws were to the radiator and made sure the replacement screws weren't too long - to avoid adding holes.
I think all the glass bowls (pumps/filters) need extra care during install so they're flush and not off center. The gasket needs to be in good condition, so overtightening isn't needed to get them to seal - which may lead to cracking. The SM shows pump pressure in para F-45 and Table F-53. Those with more experience than me could add information, but I don't believe the pump could produce enough pressure to crack a filter (or pump) bowl. If there were too much pressure, I'd assume there'd be carb problems instead.
There have been questions in the past about how to find parts for the fold out w/s. You're talking about just the inner frame, or both inner and outer? Share where you found it as that may be good info for others (seems the rubber seal was hard to find). As far as the dimensions of the glass, what I understand is no one sells any of these. What most glass shops have is a pattern and they cut it out of a flat sheet. This is how I got mine replaced. Making an assumption here: The glass may be the same dimension as all other 3Bs. You may need to show the company your frame (or measure yourself) for them to compare.
