Adding separate gauges to speedometer cluster

The gauges in my '61 CJ5 speedometer cluster are working, including the oil and amp idiot lights.

I'd like to keep this, but would like to add an under dash three-gauge panel for better accuracy (oil pressure, water temp, voltmeter)

Hooking up the voltmeter is no problem, but the oil and water gauges may be.

I'm guessing that the oil and water inserts/plugs might be teed where they connect to the engine, with a line going to each gauge... 

Has anyone done this?

Depends a lot on which engine you are running. Oil isn't usually a problem, just add a suitable "T". Water temp can be problematical though, as a mechanical gauge has a bulb end that needs to go in the head where the original is - if using an after-market electric gauge, it will usually work with a suitable "T" arrangement, but doesn't look very good. Have a look around your cylinder head and see if there's any other ports with a plug that you may be able to remove and use.
