Throttle cable (dash mounted) question

That does look more effective than what ever I came up with.  The Solex didn't last very long on mine, so I never 'tinkered' much with it.  I don't remember needing the choke or throttle much.  I only ran it for the first summer after the refurb.

I thought I'd update with info about the commonly available (seemingly) military style throttle cables from ebay (as I mentioned previously).
I purchased this one through ebay from a particular seller that said his weret were "improperly stored" but the pix didn't scare me off.
I was pleasantly surprised to receive a really nice piece with some very minor corrosion, but not bad at all. I intend to paint the handle black and refill the embossed letters anyway.
I was worried the shaft size was 1/2", but no, things are even better because it's a 3/8-24 shaft with a flat so it's a direct bolt in to the original dash hole.
It's high quality and features the locking ratchet shaft (same idea as the hand brake shaft) and a quarter turn releases it.
So despite it being not correct, and despite me not really NEEDING a throttle control, I'm going to bolt it into the dash (after I paint it up)

Tim,
I see that your solex hand throttle cable housing is not fixed to the carb....I thought it should be clamped in the "C" shaped clamp looking thing as shown attached...I used a generic cable to try it and it does function, (but as suspected the return spring does pull it closed)
Note too I have a funny piece mounted to the same "C" clamp screw to serve as a return spring mount.

I have that cable and the smaller throttle cable on my cj , i thought the bigger one might be for a govenor.
I'm not even sure they are hooked up to my wo.

I've got that same Military throttle cable (from Midwest Military) on both the CJ3 and the M38A1, its a good tool that works well.  I often use it as a poor mans cruise control on long drives, although it does require one to pay attention when slowing down... just sayin.

Yeah, I agree, it does come in more handy than I thought....
I've made my first drives recently, and I like using the throttle control when I do cold starts to get the revs up a bit while it warms up.
