Do I need to resurface this flywheel?

This is the flywheel from the PE-95. I popped the 97 tooth ring gear off tonight and will install a 124 tooth ring gear as part of the intended genset to red 3A motor swap.
The PE-95 has no clutch so there is no wear to the flywheel. There is light rust and discoloration. Can I run it as-is or should it be resurfaced? I've had a flywheel resurfaced before but am not sure how critical it is or how bad one needs to get before it is required. I never resurfaced the flywheel on the gray 3A and it seems fine.

I'd clean it up with some sandpaper and then evaluate it. If it is flat it should work fine.

I would resurface it if it were mine. Around here its not very expensive to have it done.

If you have an orbital sander or can borrow one use 80 grit paper on it and buff it up. Your flywheel doesn't need resurfacing at all, just a good cleaning.

Usually, when new clutch is installed the shop will resurface the fly wheel. But it is only really needed if t is glazed, rough, or rusted.
