Radiator Assembly to Frame
« on: June 10, 2014, 05:10:58 PM »
On the bottom mounted radiator, were there rubber pads to fit between the radiator and frame? I can't remember if I took 2 pads off.

Thanks,

George

Hi George. Good to see you back in the saddle.

There are pads on the bottom mount radiators. The only Willys I have that still has the original pads is the '46 2A. They appear to be a little thicker than 1/4", and are made of the same material as the tub mounts.

For ODie and Whitey, I used the cut up side wall of an old ply tire. I believe the idea is to cushion the radiator, and at the same time, center the fan on the radiator shroud. Adjust the pad thickness to achieve this centering.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Tim,

This is very helpful information. I'm glad to be working on the 49 again!
