I've got two CJ3As, both with stomp starters. I recently got to play with an M38 that had a key turn starter, no stomp button, it turns over like a modern car/jeep. Is this a modification that's possible on the old stomp starter style engines/transmissions?
There's a bushing in the bell housing that holds the main rod of the stomp style, will this be an issue? Will an M38 style starter plug and play and have room to slide in the bell housing? I'd prefer original equipment but the reason I ask is that I'm a right leg below the knee amputee and you don't really appreciate a god given ankle until you ascend/descend stairs, try to dance, go bowling, hit a fastball, or finesse a Willys stomp starter and the gas pedal at the same time. A newer style starter would be a nice to have, but if not I can manage.
Thanks,
Jay
