ok so centre of the right side of the pic, rearward of the thermostat housing theres what i think is a block heater. has two electrode posts sticking out the top. anyone recognize it? id like to find a cord or plug for it. living here in southern B.C. its cold for a long time over the winter, be nice to be able to fire her up even if she's sitting outside.

That's called a head bolt heater. They are used as a stud and have a extension that protrudes down into the coolant. Pretty slick, but are easily damaged . They also used the same thing but with a threaded soft plug that presses into the block soft plug hole. I have one that still works great in my '46 Chevy. John

I took one out when I did my rebuild a few wears ago. I never did test it to see if it worked and must have tossed it after the build was complete. I may rummage through old parts to see if I still have it.
Ryan-M you must have one kicking around in your "tween" parts bin.

Interesting, I never knew it had a heater of any sort.  My grandfather used the Jeep (or that motor) for plowing for quite a few years but kept it in an unheated garage, he must have thought the 6v system needed some help in the winter, which I suppose it would have.
