It was beautiful here Saturday so my buddy and I made a trek up to Moosehead Lake for the annual "Seaplane Fly-in". I've always wanted to go to this event but just never made it. Greenville, ME is a neat little town on the southern shore of Moosehead Lake. Lots of logging history and a vacation mecca of sorts. The fly-in is a 4 day float plane meet with various exhibits and contests (short take-off competition, dropping grapefruits onto floating targets, etc).

By the time we arrived cars were parked a 1/2 mile out of down town. Lucky for us, a local car club was having a show and allowed us a front row seat.

Tough to tell from this pic but lots of plane activity. In this shot alone there are three in the air and two more taxiing around

One of the local flying services in Greenville has, among many other sweet toys, two Cessna 195's and two M38's. A fine combination if you ask me. The owner started showing me around but then had to stop short to take group of paying customers up in the other Cessna.

One of the M38's has had an F-Head transplant (not cool) but does sport a Ramsey JR-246 winch (very cool).

The other one is an older restoration but still looks good for a North Woods driver

Greenville is the only town I'm aware of where driving ATV's on the city streets is completely legal. I'd still rather have my 3A.

On the way back we had to stop at a TRACTOR JUNKYARD! Ever been to one? Neither had I.

And a Doodlebug, just because:

Good stuff. I already have it on the calendar for next year.
