Here's another video.  I had a chance to try it out today and it's very cool.

Wow. Very cool
I gather from the videos that the tracks are not independantly reversible such that it can spin in its own length or do very sharp turns.

And the horn works. Excellent.

No, the tracks are not independently reversible.  The best you can do is just about stop one, but it takes quite a yank on the stick (there are two sticks, like a dozer).

I believe he feels he was horribly deprived, so now he's making up for it.  I wholeheartedly support this.  :-)

It was beautiful here Saturday so my buddy and I made a trek up to Moosehead Lake for the annual "Seaplane Fly-in". I've always wanted to go to this event but just never made it. Greenville, ME is a neat little town on the southern shore of Moosehead Lake. Lots of logging history and a vacation mecca of sorts. The fly-in is a 4 day float plane meet with various exhibits and contests (short take-off competition, dropping grapefruits onto floating targets, etc).

]

By the time we arrived cars were parked a 1/2 mile out of down town. Lucky for us, a local car club was having a show and allowed us a front row seat.

Tough to tell from this pic but lots of plane activity. In this shot alone there are three in the air and two more taxiing around

One of the local flying services in Greenville has, among many other sweet toys, two Cessna 195's and two M38's. A fine combination if you ask me. The owner started showing me around but then had to stop short to take group of paying customers up in the other Cessna.

One of the M38's has had an F-Head transplant (not cool) but does sport a Ramsey JR-246 winch (very cool).

The other one is an older restoration but still looks good for a North Woods driver

Greenville is the only town I'm aware of where driving ATV's on the city streets is completely legal. I'd still rather have my 3A.

On the way back we had to stop at a TRACTOR JUNKYARD! Ever been to one? Neither had I.

And a Doodlebug, just because:

Good stuff. I already have it on the calendar for next year.

What a cool day!!!

No Kidding...Maine looks like a neat place to live....especially if you have a Bombardier snow plow...or know someone who does!

I got my float plane rating in about 1979....what a great sense of freedom to just land anywhere there was a suitable stretch of water....

I have been thinking that very same thing all week. Are float planes cheaper than Jeeps?  ;D

Did you happen to notice that blue thing behind the M38 parked in the hangar next to the Cessna? It's '40's era "Link Trainer". Super cool vintage flight simulator and the first and only one I've ever seen. Here's a better pic of it I stole from their FB page:

Twitchell's airport in Turner, Me., is one of the few places in the country that not only can you get your floatplane rating but afterwards you can actually rent a floatplane.  They have a 172 on floats for rent, rear seats stripped out to save weight.  I got my private ticket but never did the floatplane thing, unfortunately.  It's not cheap.

That wooden boat with the blue trim in the garage with the 195 looks familiar but I can't remember who painted them like that.  Possibly a Correct Craft.

That Scout in the pics is beautiful.  It has a little Cherry Bomb muffler that gives the four-banger a nice mellow sound.  Goes down the road very nice without the need for overdrive.

I love Cessna 195's but visibility forward has to be very tough.

"Floatplane", singular, might be cheaper than "jeeps" plural.. ;D

I don't think there is anything inexpensive about aviation...

Get a rating at a school that rents and you are good to go......you are in floatplane country!
