I am from northern California, in the mountains, about an hour west of Reno, NV. All parts of the "Bubba-Pro" power steering unit are laying on my junk pile at the moment. It wouldn't make for a very interesting picture. The way this lash-up was installed, the passenger side end of one of the tie rods was actually riding on top of the front springs. The bracket they used to mount the steering column to the bottom of the dash was too ugly to use for wire feed welding practice. I will have to make a patch to fill in the hole they chopped (that's what it looks like) out of the bottom flange of the front bumper when they mounted the power steering box. There are also a couple of holes in the lower part of the firewall, where they mounted (crooked) an L-shaped bracket, which was suposed to help support the steering column. A very attractive hose clamp was used to grip the steering column to this bracket. The original hole for the steering column in the floor was not exactly what Bubba wanted, so he drank about 16 beers, and then enlarged the hole with his power saw. The shape of the hole he cut defies any possible attempt to describe. It might be an entirely new and unknown shape. I was able to make a patch for this hole, and this has been installed.
I think you can get an idea of what this mess must have looked like. But at least it is out, and the good stuff is going back in. So far, it's been fun. Marriage appears to still be holding up. Fingers are crossed.
