UPDATE! Progress has been made. First, thanks to one of my granddaughters, our little 3A has a name. Say hello to "Pete" ... Now, A moment for some Southern Culture. The name Pete, has been used by this family for, according to the Matriarch, generations, as a pet name for loved ones. Kinda like Bubba or other pet name. So I guess Pete has touched a few people around here. Love how that happens with these amazing little vehicles. Now on to what's been done to date.
Got Pete stripped down to the frame. Rust is worse that expected, but after closer inspection I'm going with this frame. An interesting find was Pete had the wrong Brake Master Cylinder on it as only one bolt hole lined up. Aside from that it appeared completely original.
Wanting to clean up the frame and differentials etc I called a company called Gritgo. A media blasting company and had them clean the frame, differentials, Skid pan, my 2A windshield frame. The bumper hitch assembly and steering components.
Next came a disappointing setback. I am disabled with a bunch of medical crap and the afternoon after all the cleaning was done, I went in for a spine shot that was supposed to help me, but did the opposite and has laid me up for days while my frame and party sit there and rust up again. Alas, I'm an optimist and no doubt will be able to touch things up for prime and paint. No, no powder coat, just can't afford that so it's Eastwoods Products for my frame ending in Frame Satin Black.
I have all my suspension components ready for installation and will have a rolling chassis as soon as I can get the thing Painted
On another note, my engine was wasted so I bought an engine from a fellow on the CJ2A Forum pages. A shout out to NJ TOOL for driving all the way from New Jersey to South Carolina to deliver me this engine. If anybody would like to read about the motor I bought go to the cj2a page and under items for sale look up "Selling my almost finished engine" or look up NJTOOL. There's quite a story about this engine there... Great motor. Great guy. And I'm very happy with it.[reason]*UPDATE!!*[/reason]
