Did some more work to it today. Instead of buying new hat channels, I made my own. Mainly because I have to modify the passenger floor and I can easily modify it to accommodate the PTO. I used 1 x 2 x .065 rectangular tubing and capped all the open ends so water doesn't get in. I used just under 12' for these two. I got 24' so I can redo the rear ones.

BUT... I just realized that I didn't want to make the passenger side yet because of the modification....  ::)



I am going to cut the originals where the two black lines are, under the front toe support and by the parking brake return spring mount.

Hey Nate.....

Is that a doubler where the drivers seat leg captured nut is fastened? My floor was totally rusted/gone in that area, but I suspected that I should have added some sort of doubler....

I didn't put one on my '53 either. It has been fine for the past 5 years. I wouldn't worry about it.

Got some work done on the tub itself today. The new tranny hump is tacked in. It looks better with the bigger opening I think.



Then I cut away the remains of the driver's floor...



So I can start patching and getting some structural integrity back.

I made a heavy duty floor riser out of 1/8" by 4" flat stock.



And I used a piece of 1/2" angle iron to make the "bend" for the rear floor. I'll graft this on later.



And it finally feels like I accomplished something with most of the driver's floor done. Notice I did away with all the lips that the original floor riser had. I'm trying to limit the amount of mud traps and it looks more like someone at the Forestry Service shop did the repairs. I'll also add some drain holes under the tank to help prevent rot in the future.

Got the driver's floor all done today. I'm leaving everything tacked for now so when I set the body on the frame to figure out how to modify it for the PTO, it can flex back into place a bit.

That looks good...and plenty strong....everything should feel nice and solid once it's mounted on the frame...

I hope there will be no more body flex with this. I've found a few spots where the sheet metal cracked from flexing.

Finally done with the floors! The reason I haven't touched the rear of the tranny hump yet is that area has to get modified for the PTO. I still have to cut some metal out, and then it will stay a big hole until I set the body on the frame for a test fit. Then I can fill it in.



And look what I got to keep on my floor! The original hard to find "dent" for when the early 2As and MBs had the exhaust go out the passenger side.

Your PTO is going to be in a different spot other than the square plate?.  That was where my PTO drive handle was on one of my parts jeeps.

The PTO is supposed to go up the drivers side. I made mine go up the passengers. It is up higher now too, so the floor under the tool box will have to be raised. You wont see it because the toolbox will hide it.

Also, I have the overdrive, so the lever for the PTO will need a new hole too.
