I think I see the new bolts on the side of the frame so I take it that is where you have to drill thru. Looks nice. I have seen the reservoir on the firewall and I thought that it looked a little unusual but really easy to get to. I am anxious to see the tub on the frame to see how accessible the reservoir is.

On another note I was glad to see that the brake arm/extension has a bend in it. I was thinking that mine was really wacked but now I know this is okay.


Yes, you drill 4 holes on the side of the frame. The rear brake line can be rebent to plumb up to the MC. I used another short piece of 3/16 tubing to hook up the front. There is a Tee that is supplied with the kit. The branch of the Tee is 1/8' pipe for the brake light switch. Then the other two connections are used to couple the two lines together.

Yes, there should be some bends in the lever.

I got the frame all painted finally! I went with flat black for this one and I'm glad I did. It looks great. I decided to leave the rear bumper bent just because I thought it would add to the character of it being a forest service jeep. Plus, I only want to fix the rust issues on the body and not make it a perfectly straight show piece like my '53. This way it looks used and not restored.

Just when you thought I was too busy playing with 100 year old engines and rusty K20s, I make progress on this project. I got the PTO system all squared away today.

I reversed everything around on the winch so the PTO is on the passenger's side. A lot more room over there!



The PTO got clocked 180� too.



And the driveshaft just squeaks by the transfer case and engine mount! Only problem is that the PTO sticks up really high and the body is really low on that side. That can be modified. Stay tuned! Now that the chassis is complete, I can start the body. Fun fun!

Those PTO winches are cool...I hope your solution works. It seems there are compromises no matter which side the shaft is routed on.

Yeah me too! With the dual MC on there, it is really tight.

I started working on the roller fairlead for the winch. I took some 1/2" bolts, turned them down and drilled/tapped them for grease fittings. I left a little thread near the head so they will screw into the mount.

Did some more work today, added a vintage Smokey the Bear sticker and I sandblasted and primed the wheels for it. I have another set of tires for it that I'll put on after paint.
