Could be helpful with some projects. I got a 14" cast iron skillet that was laying in the ground at a customers house. it was in pretty bad shape. They didn't want it and the previous owner had used it for catching the dripping from their outdoor grill and just left it. I cleaned most of the big stuff with a sander and steel wool and tried a couple other things but it still wasn't usable. I looked at some rust removal on You-tube and decided to give it a shot.

Here is set up, a plastic tub, some angle iron and 10 awg copper wire
Prior to solution, you don't want it too far away from positive metal but don't want it to touch either. This was just stuff on hand I used
Solution is just water and Borax powder probably about 1lb to start and just mixed it with a stick. negative to skillet and positive to wire 10 amps selected on charger
When you get it bubbling like this it is doing a good job, you can also look and see bottom being covered in rust. This was left alone for 13 hours
See the difference. That was an 18 gallon tub and skillet didn't fit
It cleaned up well and washed with hot water, oven dried and then seasoned with shortening. The smaller piece was in for 5 hours to clean
One day she will look like a proper skillet
I cooked 95 ounces of hash in it for a group of people from my Church who go camping over Thanksgiving Holiday 16 people and nothing left. We scrambled 18 eggs in it and it would hold 3 dozen easy. 2 things a cook likes is an empty pot and no talking when your food is being eaten
