I do indeed want to know but I have learned that "the Gnome shares when he's ready and cannot be forced".

So, with that said, what's the heck are you up to???

"Goodies " covers a pretty broad range.
I think it basically translates to mean "Modified 3A".
I believe perhaps the modified 3A category has ideal potential to become the "Ultimate Universal Jeep" build.

You going all the way out or just how far will Super Ted deviate from the standard ??? Hmmm
This might make for some really good reading right ? ....
Building standard is totally cool.
Building modified can be Way Kewl  if done with proper Willys respect !

He will be set up for fighting brush fires with a bumper sprayer and a small water buffalo with a portable pump on it, a couple hundred feet of hose and a water tank. The hose and pump will be on the buffalo and I'll have a quick coupler between Ted and the buffalo for the bumper sprayer.

I'll also swap the T90 out for a 4 spd to have the lower gear for using the bumper sprayer.

My signature dual carbs will be in order too with the fresh engine.

He will also get some better axles, a D30 and offset D44 flanged rear with lockers.

32x9.50 super swamper TSLs with stock 15" wheels.

An old school red strobe light.

Swap out the 6 volt system to 12 to make adding lights easier

A slight lift to clear the tires.

He will still have the PTO winch, stock steering and the flat head 4 which has a starter w/mechanical linkage. Everything is going to be kept simple.

I want him to be able to get anywhere (hence the lockers) that our big brush truck can't.

I was going to go with a PTO pump, but the problem lies with the construction of the PTO. It goes through the transmission, so if I want to pump and roll with the bumper sprayer, the 1st gear reduction would render the pump useless because it wouldn't turn fast enough to create enough pressure. Plus, a portable pump is nice because you can take it to the water source and fill the tank up easily.

I will also be able to play in the woods with him too. All of these mods will be bolt on, so if I wanted to in the future, I can return him to stock with ease. I'll also keep all his original parts too.

Now the reason for all this? My fire chief and assistant chief thought it would be cool. I can see the potential in this. There are lots of ATV trails around here and Ted fits down them with ease. He will make life a bit easier. They want him red, but I like him green and I already have my red jeep!

All the parts are coming from the Jalopy because I am getting very sick of fixing that thing. Plus, I just love putting around the woods with the 4 cyl over a V6 and any day. I also have plans for something else for Radical wheeling.  ;)

Not radical and this seems do-able and quite useful.
You just gotta love useful.

I'll comment if I may.
Although the D30 and the flanged D44 are great little axles,
I consider them as overkill with a 134 engine having maximum torque @ 108 lb ft.
Even geared down with a T98 the 8-1/2" clutch will never break a good set of tapered 19 spline shafts unless the jeep is severely abused.
With 9.50 x 15 tires the standard D25 steering angle can still be upgraded to Rzeppa shafts @ 29* angle.
Yes some type of traction differentials are always a priority when traveling off-road.
A T98-A should be especially useful for your needs.
I see the 4 speed as the most radical aspect of this build.

You say a mild lift.
I don't believe the 9.50 x 15 tires will require a lift for clearance.
From what I have seen standard springs found in good condition actually have more lift than the so call 1" Superlift springs.
My rebuilt 10 leaf Mather springs far surpass a set of new 1" Superlifts.
Besides you will need springs rated for a heavy load if you install a water tank.
A good set of 11 leaf Mather rear springs from an M38 would be optimum.

Yes ya gotta love the quasi tractor droning of the 134 Willys

I'm putting the D30 and D44 in because I want the selectable lockers which are already in them.

I'm not going to put lift springs in, just do spring over. I'll build my own leaf packs. If I do it right, it will be less than 4" of lift. My D30 already has high steer knuckles on it, so steering will not be an issue.

So it's to be spring over with high steer and use the standard bellcrank with the Ross steering ?

I wonder about the short tie rod ( AKA drag link) angle on that.

I was going to keep the stock tie rods. They should be long enough to reach the knuckles. The D30 3" wider if I'm not mistaken, and the high steer knuckles move the holes for the tie rods in about an inch on either side. I think it will work. If not, I will have to cross that bridge when I get there.

The high steer knuckles bring the tie rods up over the springs.
