Thanks, Pascal.  As far as I can see, all posts are now visible to me also.  That's a big problem solved by the move to the new host.

Got some of the rear floor repairs done. I've come to the conclusion it would have been better to completely remove the floor, make the repairs and then reinstall it. The rust was worse than I initially thought it was and the patch was bigger than expected, so ran into some shrinking issues. But its getting there and hopefully is the last of the tub work.

That's excellent news!

It looks like the change fixed the issue for your account. Since this problem has only affected a small number of members over the years, I'm not ready to declare victory just yet, but this is a very encouraging result.

The next step is to see if the same fix works for the other members who have reported the problem in the past. If it does, we may have finally tracked down a bug that's been around for years.

Thank you very much for taking the time to test not only the thread I mentioned, but also all the older posts where you previously had to use the copy/paste workaround. That was extremely helpful.

The grease seems easy enough.  If you notice any hopping on your speedometer needle after trimming, it's possible it may be a bit too short.

The hope is this fixes all the cable stuff so you can focus on the next issue.

Pascal,
I went a step further.  Not only did I check for your request, but I went back and searched for my posts where I wrote, "Copy/paste so I can read" on all the posts where it was invisible to me to check those also.

The post you asked about mstoke's posts - all are visible.

All the other posts where they didn't show and I had to log out, copy, log back in, quote the author, paste just to read - all visible now.

This is really, really great!!

Hi Rus,

I'm investigating the long-standing issue where some members occasionally see blank posts while logged in.

I've made a small change on my end that may or may not be related. Could you please do the following when you have a chance?

Log completely out of the forum.
Close your browser tab (or browser if possible).
Open the forum again and log back in.
Go back to this topic:
https://cj3apage.com/Forum/index.php?topic=4626.0
Let me know if you can now see all of mstokes' posts, or if any of them are still blank.

If the issue is still present, could you also tell me:

Which browser you're using (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, etc.).
Whether you're on Windows, Mac, iPad, Android, etc.
If possible, take a screenshot of one of the blank posts.

Thanks for helping track this down. It's been a tricky issue because only a few members seem to experience it.

For many, it is just a hobby. For others, it's a passion and a mission.

No worries. My website is a free library open to all who care to understand and learn how and why their motor works. My motivation is based on my experience as a flight instructor for helicopters and airplanes, which included helping the A&P mechanics with periodic maintenance and repairs. I wanted to understand and be able to pass on the finer points of the machine I operated to my students.

Then came 18-Wheelers. Then came Jeeps.

I became a student again, and again. I learned Jeeps under the tutelage of men like Sean, late of the CJ2A Page, and so many others able and willing to pass on their knowledge and experience freely. On my site, attribution is given to those who signed their work. I make claim only to my opinions based on my experience. The sources and information I work with are open source, gathered over the years, so please help yourself and others along the way.

Gearboxes and axles / Re: '53 CJ3B Dana 44 Rear Pinion Set Up
« Last post by Rus Curtis on July 01, 2026, 12:38:29 PM »
I missed a lot of this while in the penalty box.  Unfortunately, I've never done this.  I've always hired out to axle experts as I'm sure I'd mess it up somehow.  I will say I've successfully rebuilt the inner differential case (where the "spider gears" live) as the side gear tolerance was too large.  I hired out to get the ring/pinion set.  It works but haven't road tested (speed/distance) yet.

Earlier question asked about 100 ft-lbs.
Quote
Following his D44 rebuild, he tightens the pinion nut to 100 ft-lbs in order to test bearing pre-load.

As I'm reading it, it seems you're relaying that he is using that lower amount to "pre-load" test.  Did his information continue to say that is the final torque or does he use the Service Manual value?

I agree that the SM should be first.  There would have to be a significant shift in technology to deviate (here I'm thinking lubricants mostly).  I don't think changing torque values is good.
