Other than media blasting, does anyone have a recommendation for removing rust from tight areas? I am currently using a 4" abrasive disc on an angle grinder and a 3" wire wheel on a drill, both of which will be difficult to use in some spots along my chassis.

Fresh ideas are appreciated. Or a link to an old thread would also help.

How would you recommend I treat the metal? Enamel paint? I have seen rubberized undercoating that is not brittle.

After a long hiatus, I am ready to continue the restoration. At this point the chassis has had a nice washing and now I am removing some rust. Reading what a couple others have done, I am experimenting with a molasses bath for rust removal. So far it is working well.

Does anyone have a recommendation for undercoating? I have researched a couple options but wondered what would be a good product for keeping my jeep original. Or, does it not really matter and any undercoating product will be fine.

Hey now guys,

I'm Ryan, I live in a Suburb of Sacramento, CA. My grandfather had wanted to pass his jeep down to his son. He had three daughters. Needless to say, I was the next male in his lineage, so the jeep was mine. I drove it for my first years as a licensed driver and then decided to "fix it up". After about an 8 year hiatus, the project is back on. No more backyard shade trees for me, I'm in a garage! Look forward to keep you posted.
