The '54 left this morning. The boys got the business end working and rotating yesterday. Still needs some TLC and adjusting but it works!

Engine compartment / Re: NOVI BELT INFO NEEDED
« on: March 01, 2022, 12:39:02 PM »
Rus- that is the exact info I was looking for- THANK YOU!

I knew there had to be some actual belt info floating around.....somewhere that someone would share. I did try searching Google and other sites before hand.  Just got frustrated. Measuring the approx. belt size and length was going to be the last resort- been there, done that.

Been trying to save all the different part numbers from the different PTO rebuilds as we roll along. We only want to do this stuff once.
Thanks again!!!

Engine compartment / Re: OIL PRESSURE GAUGE HOSE DATA NEEDED
« on: April 07, 2021, 01:21:23 PM »
cjbilly,
My understanding is the difference is in the hard line to the gauge.  The flexible hose is, as far as I can tell, the same.

https://walcks4wd.com/oil-flex-line-outlet-c-4-and-oil-gauge-flex-line-mb-gpw-early-cj2a-p-1425.html

Notice the title says it's NOT for the CJ-3B but in the description it IS for the CJ-3B.

I did find it hidden in my Parts Manual.

GROUP 10-17 -- OIL DISTRIBUTION
A-1198     Connection, flexible......1

Not the best name for that hose but it is what it is.

Makes sense now- use the same basic hose for both the L and F head block. Any difference in length can be made up in the steel tubing length.

Thank you for the quick response.

Engine compartment / OIL PRESSURE GAUGE HOSE DATA NEEDED
« on: April 07, 2021, 12:15:45 PM »
We are looking for the flexible rubber hose for a '54 CJ3B that connects to the engine block. From there, it connects to the hard line serving the mechanical oil pressure gauge. Can't seem to find one at this time.

Could someone please share a good source and PN that they had bought one from? What is the basic difference between the hose for a CJ3A- could it be a length? Fittings?

Thanks!

Buy, Sell, Trade / Re: WTB- Ramsey DP-1 PTO parts needed
« on: March 06, 2021, 01:23:15 PM »
Thanks for getting back with me Rus.

What bearings and seals that we could read are already at the Motion Industries for pricing and availability. Luckily, we have found some addition info elsewhere.
Just was hoping someone had already gone this route and could share their findings/part numbers. We have saved our parts list on the several PTO gear boxes we have redone for our own jeeps. Wait till someone has to buy replacement parts for the PTO rear driveshafts. ;)

WTB / ISO- some replacement parts for our Ramsey DP-1 PTO shifter. Hope to source some of the bearings and seals locally if part numbers and manufacturers are available. If you don’t have loose parts, a parts broken/ damaged PTO shifter would likely work.

BTW- I have already contacted Herm- no spare parts at this time. Thanks!

Electrical Systems / Bulb Voltage Interchange Chart

Was looking for a conversion chart to change out my 6V bulbs to 12 V. Hope this is helpful.

Good morning,

Been working on our '54 CJ3B with an existing governor that was already installed. We replaced the existing carb with a solex.
Since the solex side linkage is slightly different, the crossover bar/linkage from the solex to the govenrnor bellcrank bar has some interference. It hits the bottom spark plug wiring loom at full throttle. Possible fixes- it appears we could raise the loom or rotate 180 towards the firewall.

Just asking if anyone has experienced this small issue and came up with a solution. Pictures are worth a 1000 words.

Thank you!

I'm a long time jeep owner (since Nov. 1977), first time CJ3B co-owner (June 2020).

Figured we would own a 3B someday, but, did not realize it would be this year. Of course, not an ordinary one either. It’s a 1954 CJ3B with an Auburn trencher and hydraulic blade up front. Original owner bought the jeep new and had it equipped with all the goodies. Sold it in 1973 to the family we bought it from after the father passed away. Luckily, it was basically all intact along with receiving a folder of the original Owner’s manual, trencher parts list, etc.

Of course it did not run but we feel it has plenty of potential. Keeping the patina but replacing key items so it runs and digs! Should have started this build thread sooner then later. I’ll catch up eventually on posting pictures and descriptions.

Buy, Sell, Trade / Re: PTO drive shaft

PTO driveshaft measures 50 and 1/4" long and 2.50" in diameter.  Needs new boots installed, I was told this fits a cj5.  $100 plus shipping.

Interested if still available. PM me shipping cost to 47374. Thanks!
