For what it's worth, the 3A page still says "Not Secure" to the left of the address in the address bar.   I am not quite understanding how you can say it is secure when my computer says it is not.  Am I the only one seeing this??? 

And, yes, I am using the same address as Tim posted previously.  In fact, if you click on his link it also says "Not Secure".  Maybe this is related to the blank posts that many of us are seeing???

I wonder if you also have a repro tub?  So, you can't get your hand in there if you stand like I mentioned - facing the rear of the jeep, using your left hand with your palm facing the front of the jeep?  It sounds like you can't get your fingers on the bolt at all.  Bummer.

BTW, I wouldn't worry about including any washers at all if it makes it too awkward.  The jeep doesn't need washers there if it is that tight.  Mine have no washers and it has not loosened at all.

This one makes me laugh!  I went through this in March and even wrote down my technique after screwing around for an hour or so.  Crazy too, because I'd done it before!!!

First a note on Rus's comment.  On the L head the upper bolts are pretty short - maybe 1.5 - 2". 

Okay then, here is what I wrote down for the driver side upper bolt:

You will use the left hand to thread on the nut with washer.  Face the rear of the jeep.  Bend over and with the left hand, palm facing the front, use your index and middle fingers to hold the bolt in or to place it in if it isn't already inserted.  The bolt goes in from the rear and the nut will be between the block and the BH. 

Now, with the bolt in place, place the lock washer on the bolt (under the nut) if you are using a lock washer.  You can set the nut on the block right near where the bolt comes through.  You are still assuming the position as before, facing the rear of the jeep and bent over.  Now with the nut in place or in your left hand between the thumb and ring finger and the index and/or the middle fingers still holding the bolt in the hole, work the nut with the thumb and ring fingers until you get it started.  So you are holding the bolt in place with the index finger while working the nut with the thumb and ring or middle finger.  Whatever combination of fingers works best for you. 

Once you have it started thread it down as far as you can.  Okay, now you are done facing the rear of the jeep and can proceed like a normal guy.  Place a box end or open end wrench on the bolt with the handle sticking up in the 12:00 - 2:00 position.  You will hold this wrench with your left hand.  Place a gear wrench on the nut and work it with your right hand.  Piece of cake!  (Yeah, right!)

My 2 cents...since you are venturing forth to get more room at the firewall, if you have a choice, give yourself as much room as is possible for getting to those top bell housing bolts that I mentioned previously.  As long as you aren't compromising some other fitment, you will appreciate the extra room when you have to R&R your engine.

I don't know what brand tub Kaiser Willys is selling but they seem to be quite confident about the fit of their tubs and they say they are officially "Mopar Approved".  Not sure that is worth much, but it's something!  But they do say only some minor drilling is required. 

I didn't know that Rommel Juan left the company.  I always thought it was a good move on his part when he reached out to the 3A page for input.  It seemed like he really cared about putting out a good product.  He probably works for Raynor Garage Door in Denver now!

I think I'd be calling the place that sold it to me and give them one of two options:  1) complete refund including shipping, or 2) Come get this tub and bring me one that fits.

I just measured mine.  I have 1.5" measured just below the head - horizontal from the block to the vertical part of the firewall. 

Then measuring just below the accel. linkage bracket horizontal from the block to the curving part of the firewall I have 2.5". 

Now, I will add that I may have a tad more clearance than is typical because I know that where some guys are unable to reach the two top bell housing bolts, I can get to mine without too much trouble - not easy, but doable.

I'll just throw this out there for the heck of it...are you certain that the accel. bracket and linkage arm are all in the correct orientation?  The angled edge of the BRACKET should be mounted up, and the flat section of the LEVER is mounted in the down position connecting to the pedal while the round section mounts up and goes to the carb. linkage.  Of course, you would be the first guy to have ever made this mistake!

I too am now having this "blank post" issue, and I never had it before this past week.  It happens in both Chrome and Firefox, though I have no idea if that is relevant. 
Admin...is there a fix in site?  Or is the issue on my end?

That is the link I use, Tim.  It is better now in that it says it is "partially secure" after getting Pascal's message.  I see it has the "https" so I will assume that is the best it can be.  I believe the drop down message when you click on the padlock just means they have no control over people loading "corrupted" photos or links.

I too think you have a tire that is rated to carry quite a bit more weight than these little cj's have.  Can you find a load table for these tires?  If not, maybe you can find a load table for a comparable tire and see where that puts you.  I have the Hankook Dynapro radials (215-85-16) on mine and find that even tire wear across the tread is achieved at 20-22psi.  And the ride is good too.  Lower them to about 20psi and see how it goes.
