I have a new leak at the rear pinion shaft and have a Redi-sleeve and new oil seal ready to go.  However, have never done a job like this before.  Reading the Haynes and jeep service manual, it looks like I might need a few special tools.  In particular a "yoke holding tool", a "yoke puller", a seal puller", and a "seal install tool".   How necessary are these tools for this job?  I have a universal puller that may work to get the yoke off, but what else do I need to rent to do this job?

If anybody has done this job before, any tips?    Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Okay, so I have the yoke off.  Not sure how to get the old seal off.  There seems to be a dust cover over it and I'm afraid if I start digging into it with a screw driver I'll damage that dust cover.  Anybody know the best way to get the seal out without damage?  Do I need a seal removal tool?

Also, with the yoke off, there is slop to the pinion shaft.  Is this normal or does it indicate a worn bearing or??? 

There is a slight groove worn in the shaft of the yoke.  Do you feel that permatex 2 sealant before I slide the redi-sleeve on will be enough to keep this from leaking?  Thank you.

Hi Skip, no photos - sorry.  The sleeve actually works well but I did find that for the condition of my yoke, it (the sleeve) wasn't long enough to cover all of the worn area on the yoke.  If it had been 1/4 inch longer it would still be working today.  So, it dripped again after a while and I just replaced the yoke with new.  On Amazon the sleeve is about $23 and the yoke is $51 so not that much more to go with a new yoke.
