Copper head gasket (sealant?)

Putting some stuff back together after a few repairs and I ordered a copper head gasket. Nothing came with it as far as installation procedures but to me it seems it doesn't need any sealant. What say ye?

Steve,
Opinions will vary, but I would spray it with copper gasket spray sealant.

X2. Spray just enough to cover it and let it tack up. And remember, there is a top and a bottom to these gaskets.

I have installed several dry, as the manufacturer suggests with no issues.

With these old motors...The copper gasket is designed for very high compression in motors with very, very tight tolerances. The dips, swales and gouges found on the block and head tell me the belt and suspenders approach is best.

Well I sprayed both sides lightly and let it tack a good long while. I made sure block and head were clean and put it all on today. 1 time around at 45 lbs torque and then final at 68 lbs torque. No slippage so my 3 studs I replaced a while back held nicely.
