Drag link repair kit

Hi, I ordered a drag link repair kit. I did try to installed it without success.
I had two problems.

First one is the screw are not the same.
The lenght of the thread is longer on the new one and the depth of the slot for the cutter pin are shorter.
I was not able to screw them enough to get the cutter pin goes through.

Here is pictures of the repro versus the original side by side.

I end up the put back the original.

Also, the plate that keep the rubber seal in place is a very thin metal plate. I kept my old one since it was harder and had some spring in it. Also, I think they are made in stainless.

Does anyone has some feedbacks?

I bought a reproduction drag link kit for my CJ-5 but I don't think I used any of the parts besides the spring and the cotter pins, and maybe the rubber seal. The cupped disc's were too small for a good fit, and I don't remember about the threaded end plugs, but I did not use them.....

I thought that a slightly worn original was better than a poor reproduction any day....

For that reason I did not even buy one for the CJ-3a.....

The threaded end plugs on my 3A look just like your old ones with the deep slot...

Pascal,
I had a similar issue with the reproduction set I bought from Walcks.  I couldn't get them to thread in enough to use the cotter pin.  I found that the threads were buggered up.  I cleaned the threads up with a small file and was able to insert them in far enough to lock them in place with the cotter pin.  But...it still bothered me enough to just use the originals.

I like keeping the old parts "just in case" and I recall mixing some of the old cups with the new parts to ensure I had shock protection in both directions and both caps inserted and secure.

To me the old cups still looked serviceable so I wasn't concerned with re-using.
