Im still at an impass with my distributor mine is the later version pictured the springs on the advance weights seem pretty stiff. I wonder if they use the same spring maybe that is the problem if you gun it the engine takes right off but if you gradually accelerate it stumbles and wont accelerate past a certain point.

Solved the stumbling problem with the jeep yesterday I bought a new distributor the engine runs good now through acceleration but the timing issue still remains. I have no timing marks anywhere on the engine so I brought #1 cylinder to TDC and scribed some on the timing gear cover and pully. When useing a timing light there is a one inch gap between the marks timing is retarded and no adjustment left with the distributor. Today I am going to remove the oil pump and move the drive gear a tooth th get more timing adjustment. The old distributors advance weights werent working as they should and this distributor has the electronic ignition already built in its a pretty nice unit $125 shipped to my door.
