I usually hit the three "pages" and ECJ5 every morning, but tend to spend most of my time at the latter.  I only log in if there is something I believe I can contribute to, except at ECJ5, where you have to log in to see any of the OT.

I usually check in at least once in the morning to see what may have popped up overnight.  I have used this site and the experience of its members a GREAT deal during my restoration.  I'll pop in late at night or the weekend in search of an answer for whatever problem I'm having at the time or to find an obscure photo for something.  This past weekend I was on here Sunday afternoon trying to find a photo of the fuel line routing.  Mission accomplished.

That explains some of our guests on the front page....Anyone else regularly browse the site as a guest? Quite often I see only one or two members online and twenty guests.. I had thought they were mostly webcrawlers and spambots but maybe not??

Yeah, Bill, lots of members actually do what's called "lurking" ie. reading the forum without logging in. Just like the real "lurkers" who haven't registered and always read the forum as a guest.

But

I just learned something recently. I was logged into a different forum, was writing a post and needed to refer to a thread on this forum. I opened another Window and started trolling through the forum looking for the thread I wanted. Couldn't find it. Drove me crazy. Then I realized I wasn't seeing the "Your Jeep Project" section of the forum.

Turns out that if you are NOT logged in, you won't see "Your Jeep Project". Log in and voila, there it is. Not sure why. Haven't bothered to look through the Admin settings to see if it's set that way on purpose.

Just thought you'd all like to know - if you didn't already. It was news to me.  Smiley

Working nights gives me the opportunity to check the forum after everyone goes home.  Now that Grunt is more or less under control it is just nice to go somewhere where everyone still types out whole English words.  You'll have to excuse me - I didn't count on my Grand daughters learning how to send text messages. OMG U should C my phone bill!!

I check it every morning and after work to get my jeep fix. I don't have much time to actually....ya know.....WORK on my jeep  Sad ...so I live vicariously through everyone's progress.  Cheesy

I learn a few things along the way and it's just plain fun.

Security experts will tell you that's not good practice.
They'll also tell you to never let your computer remember a password. Always type it in by hand.
Most people don't follow either of those suggestions and get along just fine.

John I looked at the settings and it should be visible to all member groups but I didn't see a place to allow guests to view it. I mighta missed something there.

Absolutely!  You and all the folks that spend time here are the reason for my #1 rating.

-The newer members ask great questions.
-The older members have great answers and have a genuine desire to help.
-There are never snide exchanges with nasty undertones.  (Small egos.)
-The 3A is a rare gem.  This site honors it very well.

Tim

I don't think you can categorize new members versus old members with respect to knowledge concerning Jeeps.  It only reflects when they decided to join this particular forum.

As for the snide "exchanges" what the @#!***%#** you thinking about? Grin
