Ryan, Quit checking out my piles of crap!   If you scroll in, you'll see it actually says "Seeds", but I can see why you thought "Jeeps".  We might have to schedule and intervention for you!

Rick, My pin is a 3A...and has a zerk fitting on the end.  I did buy a zerk that points downward to make it easier to grease it from underneath, but I think I'll spin it to point upward.   

I think we can all agree…the replacement rear floors are expensive.  Every time (twice) I come to the conclusion that I can fix the existing floor and save the cash.  And every time, I end up kicking myself.  No matter how hard I work this surface with the hammer/dolly, there is still room left to use some body filler.  To make it look at least decent, you have to put in the time.   All said and done, this surface will take more time and effort than the rest of the Willys combined.  So, am I really saving anything?




The underside received some final grinding and welding.  It’s ready for some primer sealer.





Barring any missteps, I’m hoping to have this tub ready for a finish coat this spring.  If everything works out, I might try to bring this one to the FCT this year.  But I tend to say that every year, so....

Hey, where you been?  I've been hoping for an update on your project.  You know it isn't over after the chassis run.

Well, it’s a little quiet at work today.  And it’s a little quiet around the 3A Page, so I thought I’d offer some updates.
As weather and work schedule permits, I have been working feverishly on the tub.  The majority of my time has been spent trying to get Rachel (my wife) to commit to a final paint color.  (This simple decision has been going on for 2 years now)
 
-Florentine Pale Yellow: 1987 Saab… just not quite right.
-Sample of Pale Yellow from Sherwin Williams…not quite right.
-Another sample of Pale Yellow from Sherwin Williams…not right either.
-Nassau Cream 1950 Jeepster…not quite right.


The winner:  Phoenician Yellow: 1965 Ford Mustang color.  Done!  Paint is made and on its way.

In all honesty, they all look the same to me. The preference was a ‘creamy pale yellow’, not a lemon/pastel pale yellow.

I’m at the stage of spraying high build primer, final sanding, epoxy sealer, and re-drilling holes for all the bolt-ons.

Truly impressive, Tim.  An aside...in 1965 my aunt bought a  brand new "Phoenician yellow" Mustang.  I was 9 and thought that was about the coolest car ever.  Of course it bought her a lot of good-will too.  To this day I have a tiny Kodak photo (black and white) of her and the Mustang hanging on my fridge.  As a little kid I was a car nut before she bought it, but that car definitely sealed the deal.  It is a good choice for Rachel's ride!

Hawky, it does my heart good to relive in my memory what you are doing. Nice job on detail! You have 7 weeks until The BHR and I think you can do it. Bring the sweetie up and we'll baptise it with good clean salt free mud! Your wife will kill you. Oilly

WoW! That's all I got.... But seriously, with the little bit of body work I did I realize what you have gone through to get the tub to look so nice. Sometimes I wish I had pulled the tub and done it "right" but I just don't have that in me. Cheers to you!
