The weather is improving, so I'm back to work on this build. None of what I have to report is very interesting, but I may as well throw it out there.
I’m working on the fenders. Does anyone hate fender repairs like I do? They are difficult to work with because of their odd shape. Welding, hammer/dolly work, and small amounts of filler. Lots of sanding and primer filler. It appears the previous owner had cut the fenders to make room for some V6 or V8 headers and pipes. Those areas have been patched up, but they were pretty rough. In my mind, these fenders need to look good. After all, they are the reason we pick a ‘Flat Fender’ Willys over a CJ5 etc…

After a couple miss-steps, we may have found the right color yellow. I am using a single stage Urethane paint. I’ve added a flattener agent to it. I am trying to achieve a semi-gloss finish. This is a spare hood. This is the color, but I think I over did it with the flattener. I’m going to shoot it again with a slight formula change.
I’ve been running around the neighborhood in the chassis. It seems to be running fine, and leak free…so far.
My tub has been stored in the rafter for a year or so. It’s nearly time to bring it down and finish some minor welding and repairs to the underside.

This is a side bar. I finally found a set of the correct 15" Kelsey Hayes wheels for my green Willys. The old wheels have always bothered me, so I jumped at the chance when a friend was ready to let these go. Sandblasted, primed, painted, mounted and installed...

Tis the season for Willys repairs, restorations and lots of driving fun. What a great time of the year.
