Paint type and Source ?

I would like to paint my CJ3A an emerald green I've found cross reference charts that provide a dupont or ditzler ppg number but have not been able to find a source on line. Any online paint sources one might recomend? Also any recomendations on type of paint to use, plain old enamel, urethane, or a base coat clear coat, epoxy, or what, so many choices it makes my head spin !!! Your thoughts and your time are appreciated.  Cool

Base coat, clear is the best. Just go to a paint shop and get a gallon.

If it is a metallic color, Nate is 100 percent right. If it is not , a single stage urethane would be just fine and save you some money on materials.

You might want to ask someone at the local body shops who they buy paint from, and use whatever brand is used by the majority of the local guys, including whatever primers they use underneath.

There also have been some discount paint suppliers around in the hot rod magazines, Southern Polyurethanes is one of them and has been highly recommended  on the metal shaping sites. Shipping will be high on paint as it is considered hazardous materials.

Are we talking the same Emerald green that jeep used or something from another vehicle?

Is this going to be for a frame off restoration or just something to take out and go four wheeling? For my trail rig, slopped rustoleum on it. I'll do the same with my '49 too when I get working on that too. Cheap, quick, and easy.

This is base coat clear coat on mine. The windshield frame and frame are single stage urethane. Both have held up very well. I used etching primer under both, so they bit in real well.

Thanks guys I am doing the frame off resto, only way to get to that rust and patch it right. I've been at it for a couple years off and on, just about done with all the drive train and fixing to tackle the tub next...
Yeah hazmat fees are probably high enough its better to shop local, and the base clear looks great, thanks for the advice.
