verbage got tangled up like I was drinking or something. My dipstick clamp doesn't appear to line up with any bolt holes and would appreciate a photo of where it goes.

It bolts to the lower left bolt hole of the oil filter bracket.

I suspected it had to be one of those however it seems like when I pry it over there, it makes the tube out of plumb, so it seems maybe the wrong clamp or something, it just doesn't reach, guess I will have to fabricate one couldn't find them online, least not yet. The bolt hole is maybe a 1/2" off the tube seems like it should be closer to an inch.

Mine holds the dipstick tube perfectly vertical. Can you post a picture of the clamp? I'll go take one of mine and post it up.

I had this same issue on mine a little while ago and asked the same questions.  I ended up finding the correct size clamp at a hardware store.  A conduit clamp works very well.

Hmm I'm pretty sure we never had that bracket, and inspection of a Packard flathead oiltube showed that the tube was pressed in place.

I took a nail and lightly dimpled the bottom edge maybe 3 times and knocked it in with a wood block. Maybe threw sealer on there as well.

Yes, the bottom is supposed to be a "press" type fit. The clamp just stabilizes the tube so it doesn't wobble around like mine does.
