Looks like it's time to replace the throw out bearing in my 3A...and while at it I think the clutch plate and pilot bearing as well...ok, so now, does anyone have some tips on making this easier than harder? I realize I will have to start unhooking and dropping everything, but any tips or tricks would be appreciated....Jeff

I hope you have a garage with a concrete floor. Get four of the tallest jack stands you can and rent a transmission jack. There are some sites with instructions to R&I the tranny. I hope you have a good Jeep shop manual.

Jeff,
There are two ways you can go...  unless you're ready to pull the whole tub.

-Pull the engine out

or

-Remove the Tranny and TC

Which direction are you thinking?  Both have challenges.  Once you decide this, you'll likely have multiple opinions, ideas and helpful hints.

If you can get the pin out of the TC gear shift levers, I think dropping the tranny and TC may be the way to go.  If not, pulling the engine may be a better option.

Thanks for the replies! I think I am planning on removal of the TC and Trans from below....really a shame it happens at this time since the vehicle really runs great and shifts easily....just the familiar whine of a dying throw out when I shift...though not all the time.....we'll see how it goes....many thanks again!
