Last week my wife and I took a trip into Central Arizona.  Here are a few pics of a few items I found interesting along the way.  


It seems to me that the times a highway would need plowing and patrolling the most would be nights, weekends, and during storms.  I guess you can go as fast as you'd like during those times.  That would be kind of like posting a sign for muggers and robbers: I am unarmed.  There are no guns in my house.

The Northern Arizona desert is formed heavily of sandstone formations and by prehistoric volcanic activity:


Here is a unique sandstone formation jutting up out of the desert floor.


Here is another sandstone formation capped with a craggy black lava flow.  

Calvin, do you know if Hw. 89 to Page is open since the slide? It was closed the last I heard.

No, it's not highway 89 in the Page area, but so much of that part of the state looks the same, and I like it all.  And I don't know if the slide on 89 has been cleared yet.  This is farther east on highway 191 about 50 miles north of Holbrook.

Kind of reminds me of a sign I saw on Hwy59 about half way between Douglas and Gillette Wyoming, it said " Emergency stopping only".  I still can't figure out why else you'd stop.

If I have to stop and pee along the highway, it is an EMERGENCY!
