Hi Guys,

There is a CJ3a jeep that is for sale in the Philippines. I have some pictures. Please help me get an assessment. What do you think is good or bad about it. And how much do you think it should be worth Smiley

Thanks in advance.

Missing: Correct air filter, Mirrors, glass,W/s rubbers, front turn signals, upholstery on seats..Wipers, etc.

Wrong:   Radiator mounting... Looks like it might be missing the shroud extension and someone moved the radiator back to compensate for it.
Appears to have wiring issues and alternator conversion.
Possibly throttle cable or choke cable isn't hooked up.
Has aftermarket locking hubs, which is a plus or a negative, depending on who you talk to. Personally I
like them but wouldn't pay much extra for them.

Bad: Bondo or other filler used way too much on left front fender.Tires, while on stock rims, are only good to keep the rims from hitting the ground and will need replacing. Might have typical welded on fenders to grille, I can't tell.

Don't know...: rear body condition, condition of floors , both tool box floor area and where your feet go.
tail lights or rear hitch/drawbar area, frame condition. Gages and dash overall. I see some extra holes
in the right side already. Pretty typical stuff.

Overall it appears decent, does it run well or not?
Does the transmission and transfer case operate well?
In the US it looks like it could be a $1500 - 2500 jeep depending on the condition of the unknown areas. Prices in the Philippines I have no idea...

Tell us more! Are jeeps like this common there or difficult to find?

Owner of the world famous?? Pintojeep 3A and one yet to be named stock project 3A.

You don't get many of these kind of jeeps anymore. It just turns up here and there. I'll visit it and get more info. And I'll try to post some more pictures.

Did you see the serial number? Is it a good specimen for the 3a. Am just interested so I can get more measurements from the tub and if its a good unit I'll try to restore it Smiley

That is an original radiator for late 1952. I don't understand why it has the spacers added that move the radiator away from the grill.

I plan to check it and ask. Might be because it would improve the air circulation for a tropical climate? Or would moving it closer to the engine just make it worse?

So that's an original radiator huh?

I just talked to the seller. He said that the past owner installed an auxiliary fan in front of the radiator before so it was moved back. He will return it to original position.
Will check the jeep soon.

That is a Harrison radiator which is one of two different types of side mounted radiators used in CJ-3As. The date code 52J means it would have been originally installed in a late 1952 or early 1953 model year vehicle. The vehicle serial number, engine serial number, or a photograph of the dashboard, or inside hood seam, can be used to determine if that is a late '52/early '53. If the starter that's laying on the battery tray fits it is late '52/early '53.
