Quote tool frustration (Read 1695 times)

	Sorry for the elementary question guys, but how do you use that quote tool? I've tried a couple of times to pull quotes from other posts and drop them into mine, but with little success. Obviously I'm missing something. Todd

Then I started typing. You can delete parts of what you are trying to quote and modify it as well. If you type inside the quote words, it stays inside it. If you type below or above, it stays below or above. If you delete the words Quote or change the punctuation around it it will no longer give you the quote as a separate part .

	You can actually create your own quotes just by using the HTML QUOTE Tags. Any block of text you want as a quote must start with the Open Quote Tag: [ quote ] and it must end with the Close Quote Tag: [ /quote ] NOTE - there are spaces in those two tags so they won't actually work as tags. That way you can see what I've typed. To use them don't put any spaces in there. Then the tags won't show but the quote will display properly. Example: Quote: desired text here Note the only difference in the Open and Close is the presence of the Forward Slash character ie. / All this is done for you by the QUOTE Button in each post. Once you're in the screen where you write your post, you can also edit the text between the QUOTE Tags to take out parts you don't need. Very handy. The only thing we don't have is an easy way to do multiple quotes in a single post. You can do it manually by using the QUOTE Tags and Copy&Paste to take parts of various other posts and drop them into your post.
