I think this is because we are logged in "For Keeps" and there is just a glitch to get in. Works for me this way if needed. I bet a "guest" who is not a member can't get in that way.

	That is what I am thinking too. Well, it's a quirk in the system and if it can't be fixed there should be a bold explanation of what to do after you join. If the site doesn't seem to work right for new members they probably won't come back and we need more people posting threads and replies. A site has to be friendly and easy to use or people won't use it.

	Guys I need some more information from ya.. What is the Operating system on teh computer you are using,(Windows, Linux, whatever) and what browser are you using? (Explorer5.0, Firefox, etc)... One last request for now.. Somewhere in your browser or toolbars settings is a place you can erase ALL the cookies this forum sets (and other forums too) . Please go through that process and empty all the cookies on your computer... We may have the cookies from the old forum interfering with the ones from this one.. It should be somewher ein a setting to erase all you browsing history, passwords, form data, etc. What is hindering the fix is that we can't replicate what you are experiencing. Kinda like when you bring your car to a mechanic for a problem and it disappears as soon as you pull in his driveway.. So what is happening is that you are not logged in until you view a thread and you are somehow automatically logged in? WHat page are you first entering the site at?

	I just went to tools and cleared all cookies and browsing from the time I started using my new 'puter. Then I logged in and it still says Hello Guest please log in. No matter how many times I try to log in it doesn't accept me. I am on a Dell lap top with Windows 7, Using latest version of Google Chrome. It doesn't matter which of the subsections I click on. Any of them will log me in.

	Well, ok, I went back and logged in to all the other sites that I lost my log in on and I came back here and thought, what the heck, I'll try logging in again. Well, glory be it works now. I will leave the site not and come back to see what it does and report back. Ok, when I came back I was logged out. All I had to do was click log in and it logged me in automatically. Bill, if you think your puzzled I'm even more puzzled.

	Some people don't like to hear this bit of advice, but I have to throw it in here. No matter what browser you're using, you should NEVER allow it to remember your account info (username/password). You should never let Windows remember passwords for you. You should never check "keep me logged in" or anything similar on any web site. These are the most common, basic security measures for any computer user. Not only for security, but also for everyday practicality. If you are forced to enter your password each time you visit a site, it's unlikely that you'll forget it. I moderate another forum and we have many people who forget their password because they let their computer remember it for them. Then when (not if) their computer takes a dive, all their passwords are gone with it and they can't log in using their new computer. I would also recommend that you set your browser to "clear cookies on exit". That helps combat "tracking cookies" and also helps with the "old leftover cookie" problem as well. I know these measures require a little more work and diligence on the part of the user, but in the long run it makes computer life a little less crazy.

	I have a backup. My passwords for every site is logged in a book. When they do not work there is a problem. I have had some problems in the past, but it has been the site visited. I do not get uptight about it as It can be resolved in time. Pacients is a good thing, stay calm, it is not life and death.

	Hey ferris, Excellent points. Backup your data Log your passwords somewhere safe (and where you can remember where you put them) Patience is a very good thing. Computers will break - always. For most people, there's nothing Life & Death critical on their computer. I have had many people come to me, very sad, because their computer crashed and they lost a few years worth of photos. Easy to prevent - copy your pics to a CD or DVD - almost all new computers come with a CD burner or even a DVD burner. Just be organized, keep track of your pics and burn them to disk so your computer can blow up and you still have your pics. Computers are great when they work and a supreme pain when they don't. Like much else in life.

	I'm having the same problem Carl was/is. Just opened the page, and am making this reply without having to hit 'Log In', even though it said "Welcome Guest" when I opened the page. Running Firefox, have to try the other ideas posted yet. HB
