Putting photo for an avitar (Read 1059 times)

	I have tried several times to put a photo of my Jeep for an avitar with no luck. Yesterday I tried again after putting it on the CJ2A site with no problems. I have done the same on other sites with no trouble but I can't put it on the CJ3A site at all. Tell me the magic trick I need to know to do that OR, perhaps you have to do it for me.

	How large a pic are you tring to add, Carl... Right now the forum settings are for a height and width of 65 ......Do I need to up that for you? I see a few of our fairly active members have added avatar pics perhaps they could help us here...How did ya do it??I tried to do it myself but can't seem to get it done...even copying the url for a 10 by 10 thumbnail...

	Bill, I tried all the way down to a 25 kb photo. The site is supposed to support a 100 kb photo but I couldn't get anything to work.

	I don't know if this helps, but I just changed my Avatar, so... My photo starts on Photobucket. Photobucket gives you 4 choices to choose from when you are ready to copy it over. I chose the 'http' version. copied it, then pasted into the "I have my own picture" zone in my profile. It worked for me. My photos are quite large. I didn't need to shrink it. Tim

	Well, Tim - you're a better man than I! I too created a photobucket account and moved a few of my jeep pics into it from my Iphoto app. on my Mac. No problem there. But I don't seem to have the "4 choices" to chose from nor a choice called "copy". When I am in the "album", below each photo is a selection for "share", "edit", "delete", and "move". Then below this line is a column of 6 selections each with different codes for different functions, I assume. Anyway, nothing I put into the "I have my own picture" box on the 3A profile page, will give me the avatar picture of my jeep. I tried cutting and pasting each of these 6 lines and none of them appears as a photo after I have "saved changes" in my 3A profile. If anyone has any thoughts for me, I sure would appreciate it! I've got a severe case of "operator failure" I'm afraid.

	Okay Dog, I really should do a better job of describing stuff. 1. At Photobucket looking at your album and all your photos in the smaller format. 2. Under the photo you want to use there are 4 code options. Left Click on the actual code called "Direct Link". This will highlight it in blue...then right click it and copy it. 3. Go to your profile under Options. 4. In the 'I have my own Pic", click on the small box to highlight the 'check mark' 5. In the box next to the check mark, right click to paste the photo code. (The code should start with HTTP) 6. Save your profile, then jump over to the forum and see if you have your Avatar. This should work. I just did it again and now my Avatar is my engine compartment. 	Thanks Tim, but it just doesn't work. Tried several times as per your instructions. Must be a Mac/Windows thing. I really appreciate your help!
