It's probably too early to know for sure but I think the "search" function here is a lot more useful than on the old board.

If you could make the post text a little darker....as it is now, it kind of "blends" in with the background.  The grayish color of the text doesn't "pop" at you like the black text on white background of the old site.

Hi all, Don't understand why's and why not's but like the place to get together. Many things change as we go along and we must adapt. I threw a 'For Sale' piece just to start something going.  Thanks for allowing us a place to Play With Jeeps.

kinda miss the jeep drawing on the top of the page. Undecided it would look better than the yabb logo.

The new forum has a nice look to it but losing direct access to all our history is not good. I understand there's a link to the old forum but the search function won't cross search. Can I ask why the old forum wasn't migrated to the new server first, and then the software upgraded in order to retain logons, status, and history? I belong to a dozen forums and have been through many server moves and have never seen the history lost before on any of them.

The old forum was/is hosted by a private hosting company and I don't have access to the data, thus I can't migrate it over.

This is more of a headache than I planned and I hate the new forum.

Why do you hate the new forum Jeep?

As to a search on the old site, I just tried searching a few things and it found nothing so I guess it's all lost. Since we can't go back because nothing is there we therefore have to move forward or just give up and close this site completely. Do we really want to give up this soon? It's been my experience on other forums the search feature was never much help.

What is wrong with making this site the way we want it?

I think I like the new forum as well. If nothing else the ability to set an email alert if someone replies to mine or any other thread that I'm interested in will be a welcome addition. I don't know that it's perfect, but I've yet to use any forum software that didn't have some sort of "oh man that sucks" aspect to it.

Are you sure? Most forums are on private or commercial hosts but you still own the data. Whoever the host is they have no legal right to prevent you from moving your data to another server. I've been doing this stuff since 1979 and have never seen a situation where an owner couldn't get his/her data.
