Hello!  Looking forward to getting to know the group and learning from you experience.

I recenly inherited a 1949 CJ3A from my dad.  Ive always enjoyed messing with it so he gave it to me to restore.  Its in pretty good shape but needs some love and improvements.  My plan is to restore it close to original with the exception of some safety upgrades.

I am an aircraft mechanic by trade but I havent worked with cars much so I figure I have some to learn from you guys.

Hello Rob and welcome to the CJ3A forum. That Jeep means a lot to you I'm sure. With your talents you should have no problem getting the CJ to fly, I mean run! These things are a joy to work on and drive. Mostly driving but occasionally a drip or 2 of oil will show up somewhere. A wealth of information and help is on this forum and you will not find a better group of guys and gals to offer assistance. Just curious what is your serial number? My number is 14517 - (1949 CJ3A)

Keep us posted on any progress and welcome.

Tom, that's cool! And Tim's was just a few hundred as well. What would be the chance all 3 were built by the same guys in possibly the same week??????

If you believe the WWW. internet production numbers information, they were averaging between 75 and 85 CJ3As per day.  Mine (Rachel's) is 13655.  Production for this one was within a couple weeks of Tom's and George's.  Tom's and George's were within maybe 3 days of each others.  I would bet money that the same group of people put them all together. 8-)

Sadly, mine has now a lot of new parts and even a different tub. Same frame though! I guess if I want to see what it was like in its' previous life, I will have to study yourz guyz'. They must have used up all the good parts when they built yours!  It was a good week for 3As' though, wasn't it? :) 8-)

I don't know Tom,  I think we both had quite a bit to do to get them back in shape.  I'm thinking we were all in the same boat as we tried to bring them back to life.  In fact, Whitey has a donor cowl, a donor cargo floor, one donor wheel house, a donor rear side panel, and new front floors. The windshield came from Colorado Springs.  Half the wheels from Lakewood, CO (Wally of the A&W clan).  The hood and gas tank are reproductions.  The radiator, tool box and park brake assembly came from Minnesota (Lee).  The seat frames from Lafayette. And numerous bits and parts from Walcks, Kaiser, Ron Fitzpatrick,eBay, etc...

There may be more original left on yours than on Whitey. :o :)

Tim, I do believe we are not alone!

Rob, sorry man...I think this is what a hijacked thread looks like. :( ;)

Yep, totally highjacked.  Sorry Rob.  I think we all just get carried away when the 3A driving season is upon us 8-)

George, I haven't decided when I'm showing up, but I am going to be there.

I must have cabin fever- Okay Rob my apologies -  :-/

Please keep us posted on your progress and I know that the Jeep is in good hands. Keep in mind that in September there is a Fall Color Tour in Colorado. Check the CJ2A Forum for details. This is a bucket list event and a must for flat fender owners and I am sure you will not be disappointed. It would be our pleasure to meet you.
