Hello from Idaho
« on: February 22, 2017, 09:25:31 AM »
Good morning all,

Thanks for the add.  I am new to the 3a world but very well versed in the 2a's.  Not much difference.  Currently semi restoring my grandfather's 2a and just picked up a 50 3a. I am working on a deal on my other grandfather's 3a.  None of my 10 vehicles are show vehicles.  I use them all.  I am also going to be working on a 1958 ford f100. I am playing the motor swap game.  My 2a is getting a 47 flathead v8.  The 50 3a will probably get one of my 272 y-blocks.  I have a sbc that would fit nicely but everyone does that and I like odd engines.  Planning on divorced transfer cases in both jeeps unless I can get my hands on the right transmissions.  I have a transmission for my flathead and I am going to see if I can adapt it.  I am a machinist and welder by trade so I think I can make some adapters.  OK well I am still healing from foot surgery so back to relaxing.  Thanks again for the add.  Glen

Hello from a bit north.  Sounds like some interesting projects.  Not sure how one would get a divorced transfercase in any of the 80 or 81" wheelbase Jeeps and still have anything resembling a rear driveshaft.  I believe the shortest V8/4 speed remains a sbc/SM465/D18 with Novak's adapter.

That and when it comes to swap engines, I'm all for ubiquitous-sbc or not.  I see little utility in a swap where you can't find parts and/or those parts a very expensive.

Personally, I look a small block Chevy's as the worlds greatest Lego set.  Literally 1000's of ways to put them together and tailor them to your specific needs.
