Hello from Central Coast California
« on: December 30, 2016, 12:28:01 PM »
I just retired and decided to buy a 1953 CJ3A as a hobby.  Old but still runs, kinda like me.  Seems to be pretty original condition.

I plan to restore this new toy as best I can.  I have very little experience with restoring but fearless to try.

I drove it into the barn and immediately started to disassemble it.  Lots of rust and some holes.  Already converted to 12 volts but almost no wiring left.

I bought a new tub kit but plan to rebuild all of the drive train.  I can wrench but can't weld - yet.

This may take some time.  :)

Anyone need a reasonably good tub?

Happy I joined the forum as I am sure I will have questions.

Welcome Chuck!  Your sheet metal actually looks pretty good in that photo.
