Newbe to the 3A fourm
« on: July 16, 2013, 08:22:52 AM »
Just purchased this 48 CJ2A which is really a 50 CJ3A according to the VIN#s and info I found. Its a solid 3A frame, body, engine. I rescued it from a super Bubba. I drained all the fluids. The tranny & transfercase had GL5 in them. Fuel filter tied off against the intake manifold. The wiring is a mess. A splice there, a splice there everywhere a splice splice. Last night after a drive I heard a hissing noise under the hood. The Battery was boiling, leaking. Put on my saftey gear and removed it. Washed down the engine bay. So I will have a lot of questions about wiring locations and electrical system on the 3A. I will post pics of bubbas work in a different thread. I do have a new wiring harness from Walckes. I hope this post correctly everytime I preview and try to go back I lose everthing so I am not going to preview ;D

Welcome aboard! We can help you with the wiring. It's a common FAQ.

Do you want it post under our database?

Follow this link "Want to be listed in the serial # database" at the top of this page http://www.cj3apage.com/index/Serial_Numbers.htm

Birddog,
That is the exact color my wife is hoping for on her Willys. You don't happen to know what color/paint was used on yours?

You're going to love that Walcks wire harness. The directions are a bit archaic, but if you separate the individual pieces, then mark them with tape, it will all start making sense. Divide and conquer.

Quebec Jeep, I will get the info into the data base. This is titled as 48 Willys with a 3a VIN# so I do not know if you want it into the database.
Athawk11, yes I have a can of paint from the PO. I'll get you the information.
Also found why the battery was boiling the votage reg. was bad overcharging the battery. Got Walcks harness in,  it looks good. Yes the instruction are archaic.

Even if is titled as a 48, it's clearly a CJ3A so let put the VIN# for the 3A. Can you see the serial# of the motor?
