Doctor's excuse...
« on: October 16, 2025, 06:13:57 AM »
This is for those of you who have sent carbs and those considering sending carbs or pumps to me. I've been sick for the last two months.
Now I know. I apparently have had this now treated ulcer for a very long time. It stayed very small until recently. Aggravated by COVID and a bacterial infection and the treatments for them it suddenly grew larger. The ulcer allowed for significant blood loss, two pints. Two fewer pints to absorb and carry oxygen from a heart enduring congestive failure. It is functioning at 75-80%. This blood/oxygen loss led to one of the 400 different variations of Anemia. Fatigue, aches, pains, shortness of breath, dizziness on standing, fluid buildup (Edema) in my feet and legs, got to the point where I could not function normally and now here I am. It's not an easy or quick road back, but I'm on that road now. Iron and B12 supplements with better nutrition. I can't give a time frame for full recovery. There's a lot of damage to repair.
Old fashioned service never goes out of style.

Rick,
Sounds like a ton of fun!  Hope you're getting some pampering or at least some help!

Mending does take some time.  I'm finding out that in our later years, this process takes even longer.

If you're low on blood, recommend no higher that GL-4 top off to ensure safety for the softer internal parts.

Seriously, I know we're all glad here to know you're on the mend!

Scout Pilot,

Thanks for the update, a horrible experience, but hopefully all behind you now.

May you have GOD's SPEED and SKILLS for a "rebuild" back to "iconic function"... as you have done for so many others.

Rick thank you for letting us know your condition, I know I have been concerned these last few months. Take those meds and take care!
