Color style preference
« on: July 17, 2025, 08:44:03 AM »
I'm curious if the WILLYS WORLD has a preference to of either the black windshield frame and color-coded grill, or both color coded, or both black?  I'm leaning towards both black, but I was wondering what the majority prefers???  Thanks.

Steve,
Some time back, I was reviewing the Paint info on 3B Page.  There seemed to be a mix of black or body color.  My jeep had a layer of patina on it when I got it and then got random green slapped on at one point when it was used briefly to train mechanics (I got a few things fixed out of that).

Later when getting it ready for its most recent rebuild, I found a spot where the w/s was black.

The irony is I'd never noticed that before nor made a mental note of it when I replaced the glass.

That helped me decide to go "two-toned" and have a black w/s.  I can't recall reading about the radiator guard (grill?) ever being a contrast color other than maybe a surrey.

Hey Rus, thanks for your response.

I agree that from the factory, my DJ included, most windshield frames, except the Surreys were black. and also the exception with Surreys, the grills were color-matched.  Besides the Surreys, I've seen since, several owners chose to black the grill and I have learned to like the contrast to the "all one color option".  I also like the inside wheel wells blacked out instead of color-matched, but that is maybe "just me".

Thanks again for your input, Rus.
