Here it is the third day of January and no has made a post. Someone get out there and break something or try to fix something without using the Service Manual. It’s getting boring.  🥱

Happy New Year!!  For me, my excuse is the garage is getting a "makeover" (the full works, insulation/walls, flooring, lockers, etc).  I've been wanting this for about ten years but got really fed up over the last couple of years with the temperatures in an unfinished garage.  Most is done and will finish with a large A/C unit in the window to help with the fluctuations throughout the year.

I think we all felt that cold snap a while back and while the temps outside were single digits down here, the garage never got lower than 55.  Not bad.

To add the obligatory jeep connection, I did move my jeep around while doing all this work.  Drove it around the back yard a few laps and actually performed a full flush and antifreeze fix on the radiator (had only water in it up until then = laziness).  Parked it on the side while the workers were making a mess but pulled it inside during that arctic blast.  Then I used it like a powered wheelbarrow to tote a few boxes around to the crawl space to store until I can get to that.  Of course this would be much easier if I had the Bantam trailer back together but that's still on the list....

Once the cardboard is recycled and all my tools are back inside the garage, I'll finally get to pulling the transfer case to see why it catches in reverse when I push the clutch (that's the broke part).

Ok,Ok,Ok,
I'll admit, I spent the last two weeks wrapping Christmas presents and chasing oil leaks on Triple X.  Finally got it down to 1 small one and one sorta kinda big one.  The little one is the engine rear main seal, the bigger one is the output seal on the transmission/ transfer case.  I was going to dive into it, but I got distracted by Sarge, the M38A1, did a fuel pump and carb re-build on that one, and of course had to lean on Scout Pilot for the final piece of info that made it come together.  So Sarge is running again, Triple X is going to head out for the shop to get his seals fixed, in the meantime I've got leaks to chase on Sarge and finish a brake job on my daily driver truck, Silverado.  In the mean time I've got about 200 rounds of 30-06 to load for the 03A4 Clone and the Garands.  Who said Retirement was boring????

We are on our annual two week camping trip to Hunting Island State Park in S.Carolina. It’s a good unwind from the hustle and  bussel of the holidays.
The kids picked up on something I said about adding a passenger side tail light to my 3A so I got one for Christmas. I haven’t done any research on where the proper location would be. I am curious about my spare tire, located on the tailgate, blocking the light. I’ll get on it when we get back home.

Happy New Year to all!

Great! You must be a good driver and mechanic. I hope to be back in the woods next week.
