Digital Dwell Meter - Erratic Reading

If you have purchased a digital dwell meter (has a numeric readout) versus a analogue dwell meter (has a needle) and the digital meter s giving you a erratic readout then you may be getting electrical/radio frequency interference from the ignition system.  Try changing spark plugs to resistor type plugs (e.g. BR6S NGK Spark Plug), worked for me.

Huh? I would not change the motor to suit the instrument. Buy the proper instrument.
