I realize most of you guys live in much colder climates than me (and I don't know how you do it), and "need" warm up, and I'm certainly not questioning the expertise of the "carb master" (IMO), but since my South Florida L-head, came to me with "no flapper at all", I'm wondering how measurable are the results of either "my no flapper", or a "wired open" flapper in a warm climate condition, or like "just summer use"?

That's possibly two different impacts, and I can see that my existing "square box chamber" can not have effective exhaust "flow", and also that the "square box" was "eliminated" with the F-head manifold.  Is the "lack of a flapper" worth me having to put one in at this point?  Any thoughts and or opinions on this will be appreciated.

BTW... it also came with no PCV and only the "drip tube", which I've already heard has the similar impacts of the "sludge buildup".  Amazing as it seems "now with all of the information so far", the plugs and insides of the intake and head, and exhaust manifold and original exhaust system, were not all carboned up and actually quite "normal looking" for the age and 87K miles indicated on it's "working speedo".  I haven't dropped the oil pan for a peek in there tho.  Thanks for any thoughts/suggestions.

I' m in Charlotte, NC and getting bad vapor lock conditions after driving it and its in the 50-60's right now.  My carb gets hot to the touch.  Besides running fuel lines too close to the engine and exhaust, flapper malfunction is another major cause of VP from what I have been reading.

just for everyones edification, It was indeed the flapper and I ended up replacing the copper spring on outside and no vapor lock whatsoever.  Also, as others have suggested I floor the pedal when starting it after its been ran for a while and hot.
