Outside body width and tailgate opening dimensions

Hi All,

I am trying to work with a 54 3B that is very soft/twisted and somewhat nonexistent.  Can anyone verify that the outer body width dimension is 57 inches and the tailgate opening frame is 36 inches wide?

I just checked and get 57" across the tub but only 35.5" across the tailgate opening. 


I will say the whole back of my jeep has been rebuilt so I think a consensus would be better.

Thanks Rus, I’ll have the 57 to go with and figure out the gate.  My concern is I have a Kelly 300 hardtop that it came with so I want to get close.  When I removed the hardtop the tub just sagged in all directions

The Willys blueprints at https://cj3b.info/Drawings.html give the overall width as 57-1/8".  They give the width between the wheelhouses as 36" but don't show the tailgate opening specifically.

Tub width is 57.125" tailgate opening is 35.875" distance between Wheel houses is 36" Rear radius at the corner is 3"R
