Hello fellow CJ3B enthusiast! Thanks for letting me join. I owned my first CJ3B in about 1986, it was a 1963 and I drove the heck out of it through high school. I have an affinity for the M606 because it was used in several post-Colonial conflicts, particularly how they were used and modified for use by the Mercenary forces in Congo from 1960-1968. In no other conflict can the entire force movement and direct action victories be laid almost solely at the feet of the Jeep. So I think it's significant that the CJ3B/M606 played such a key role in the communist being defeated in Congo and want to try and preserve a little bit of the lesser known Cold War bush wars conflict history. I actually got to meet the famous Col. Mike Hoare the commander of 5 Commando in Congo, so I am building out an M606 like he drove in 1965-67 from a 1962 CJ3B. I have included several pictures of the type of M606 I am building, and a few from the base CJ3B we're using.
I hope to have my jeep on the road in early May, I will post progress as I make it.
