1962 cj3b rims what's o.e. ?

in the early 60's could my cj  had either motor wheels, or kelsey hayes rims ? i have 2 of each at this time. i'm trying to make a set of 5

I would initially think that if they appear to be the same on the outside, would anyone know the difference?

they do look a tad different, most normal people would never know

I'll bet there's some published info somewhere in someone's jeep library that could shed light on this.  Can you post images of each type?

Here's a discussion with pics of the two brands compared at 16", with the statement of "15" looks identical to the 16's.  It shows the main difference is around the lugs...

The 1962 CJ “service standard” wheel was the Kelly Hayes 4-1/2” x 16”.
And 1962 was the last year for that particular size of wheel.
Two other optional wheel sizes were also available for your model and vintage.
I would not expect that any “Motor” brand wheels were used on jeeps since the 1940’s.

In general the wheel consists of 2 parts; specifically the rim and the disk.
Both rim and disk gauges varied for specific applications.
However on your particular wheel both the rim and the disk were made of 8 gauge.
Also all disks were of the creased design ever since the mid 1950’s.
The 4-1/2” wheel measures 5-1/2” wide across the outermost flanges of the rim.

thanks for the info, i was aware of some the difference between the rims. an that some came mixed, just wasn't sure what was right?

was the paint on the 3b rims flat or matte finish ? the wife an i finally found a color we both like and it's gloss ...... thanks

we went with gloss, its call almond. i'll add pics when i'm done, i got 2 more fronts to paint then all 5 are done.  and ready for tires
